Road Accident / Dharmendra Pradhan Condoles Odia Devotees’ Death In MP, Speaks To CM Mohan Yadav

Bhubaneswar, Sept 19: Sambalpur MP and former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday expressed grief over the death of Odia devotees in a tragic accident at Agar-Malwa district in Madhya Pradesh.

In a message of grief, Pradhan said he was “deeply anguished” by the loss of lives and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls. He extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, praying Lord Jagannath to give them courage and fortitude in this difficult hour.

Pradhan also said that he had spoken with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav regarding the tragedy. The Chief Minister assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to the affected families. Sharing the update on social media, Pradhan said the state government was committed to extending immediate relief and support.

Notably, seven devotees from Odisha and a driver died after the car they were travelling in was swept away by a rain-swollen stream near the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda in Madhya Pradesh.

The victims were the residents of Jayadev Vihar area in Bhubaneswar and had travelled from Ujjain to Nalkheda to visit the shrine, police said.

Superintendent of Police Dilip Kumar Soni said, “Eight people died in the incident, including three children, two women and three men.” Rescue teams later recovered the Maruti Suzuki S‑Presso vehicle from the stream.

The incident has cast a shadow of sorrow across Odisha, with prayers being offered for the victims.
