Key Points
Delhi Police foiled a major terror plot, arresting four radicalized youths from three states, recovering IED materials, and uncovering extremist social media networks promoting Ghazwa-e-Hind ideology and inciting violence.
New Delhi, Apr 18: Delhi Police’s Special Cell has foiled a major terror conspiracy, arresting four youths from Maharashtra, Odisha, and Bihar who were allegedly preparing for large-scale terrorist activities in India.
Among those arrested is Sheikh Imran, picked up from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, whose links to extremist networks were under close watch. The other accused have been identified as Mohammad Hamad (19), Mohammad Sohail (23), and Mosaib Ahmad (32).
According to police, all four were influenced by radical ideologies and were actively promoting extremist propaganda, including the dangerous “Ghazwa-e-Hind” narrative, while attempting to recruit others.
Investigations revealed that the suspects were part of secret social media groups where discussions centred around jihad, weapons, and terror strategies. These groups were also used to lure new members and spread hate-filled content.

Alarmingly, two of the accused were preparing to build a remote-controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Materials such as ball bearings, nails, and toy cars had already been procured for the purpose.

✨Police sources confirmed that one of the suspects had visited Delhi in December 2025 and conducted reconnaissance of sensitive locations including Red Fort and India Gate. He even shared provocative posts with images of Red Fort on social media to incite followers.
Further investigations revealed that the group was raising funds through online crowdfunding and promising weapons training in exchange for money.
All four suspects hail from modest backgrounds — working as mechanics, plumbers, and security guards — and most had studied only up to Class 10. Their radicalization is believed to have been driven primarily by extremist speeches and online propaganda.
The Special Cell has registered cases against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Police have seized mobile phones and materials intended for IED construction.
Authorities continue to investigate the wider network and
possible international links, ensuring that India’s security apparatus remains
vigilant against such threats.
