Cuttack, Oct 4: Cuttack witnessed a tense situation on Friday evening as two groups clashed during a immersion procession near Hati Pokhari Chhak.
The altercation reportedly began over a dispute regarding the cleaning of the procession route and quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
Eyewitnesses stated that members of both groups hurled stones and glass bottles at each other, resulting in multiple injuries. Among the injured was the Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Cuttack, who sustained facial injuries while attempting to control the situation.

✨Following the outbreak of violence, a large contingent of police personnel was deployed to the area to restore order. Senior police officials, including the DCP, rushed to the spot and managed to bring the situation under control after hours of tension.
However, the unrest did not end there. Hundreds of youths from one of the groups staged a sit-in protest on the road, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack. Their agitation further disrupted traffic and added to the chaos in the area.
To prevent further escalation and ensure public safety, the
police imposed restrictions in the affected locality. Authorities have assured
that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators and investigations
are underway.
