Cuttack, Oct 3: In a tragic incident, a class 10 student drowned in the Kathajodi River while bathing at Balighat near CDA-6 here in Odisha on Friday, police said.
The victim was identified as Sriyansu Das (16), son of Santosh Kumar Das from Madhuban in Kendrapada district. He was studying Class X at an English medium school in CDA-6 in the city.
According to the eyewitnesses, Sriyansu was bathing with his friends when he was swept away by the strong river current.

✨On being informed, personnel from Bidanasi Fire Station reached the spot and launched a search operation. As of the latest update, divers and rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate the boy.
Local authorities have urged residents to avoid bathing in deep or unmonitored river areas, especially during monsoon-fed high currents. The school and community mourn the loss and await further updates.
