Keonjhar, Jan 17: In a massive crackdown on illegal cattle trading, Keonjhar Police launched coordinated raids across 46 locations in the early hours of Saturday.
The operation targeted residences of suspected cattle mafias spread across Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Bhadrak districts.
Key areas covered included Santarapur, Kaliahata, Telkoi, Ghasipura, Turumunga, and Jamujodi under Harichandanpur in Keonjhar district; Bisoi, Karanjia, Jharpokhria, Tentoposhi, Chadheibhol, Kendrei, and Thakurmunda in Mayurbhanj district; Korei in Jajpur district; and several locations in Bhadrak district.
The extensive operation was spearheaded by two Additional Superintendents of Police, supported by five DySPs, 25 Inspectors, and 36 Sub-Inspectors/Assistant Sub-Inspectors. A total of 18 platoons of force were deployed to ensure smooth execution of the raids.
Police sources indicated that significant seizures of cash, vehicles, and other properties linked to the illegal cattle trade are expected. The raids are still underway, and detailed information will be released once the operation concludes.
