Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: The Odisha government has announced plans to construct new model Collectorate offices across the state, introducing a modernized administrative framework that will also include Deputy Collector offices within the premises.

 

The initiative aims to strengthen district-level governance by aligning infrastructure with population size, workload, and revenue administration units.

 

To streamline operations, districts have been classified into three categories — large, medium, and small. Districts include:

  • Large Category: Sambalpur, Puri, Keonjhar, Cuttack, and Mayurbhanj;
  • Medium Category: Kandhamal, Rayagada, Balasore, Jajpur, Balangir, Khordha, Kalahandi, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Kendrapara, Koraput, Angul, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, and Jagatsinghpur are categorized as medium;
  • Small Category: Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Subarnapur, Jharsuguda, Gajapati, Boudh, and Deogarh.

  • Medium districts: 1.4 lakh sq. ft.

This classification ensures that administrative infrastructure is tailored to the needs of each district.

 

In addition to district-level upgrades, the government has also announced the construction of new state-level facilities. A new independent Circuit House and a Revenue Bhavan will be built in Bhubaneswar, while Cuttack will see the establishment of a new Revenue Board office and RDC chambers.

 

Officials stated that the move is part of a broader effort to modernize governance, improve accessibility for citizens, and enhance efficiency in public service delivery. The new model Collectorate offices are expected to provide better facilities for staff and visitors.

 

With this initiative, Odisha is set to redefine district governance by combining infrastructure development with administrative reforms, ensuring that citizens benefit from a more responsive and efficient system.
