Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: The Odisha government inaugurated the State-Level Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with a powerful message of zero tolerance against corruption.

The event, held at Lok Seva Bhawan’s Convention Hall, was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and Odisha Vigilance Director Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa.

Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi administered an anti-corruption oath to government officials and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to transparency. “Corruption breaks public trust. Fighting it is not just a duty — it’s a moral responsibility,” he declared.

The Chief Minister emphasized that corruption is not merely a flaw in administration but a moral disease that hinders societal progress. He cited past governance failures where corruption was tackled only at lower levels, while powerful offenders were ignored. “Our government does not spare anyone — from IAS officers to peons. If found guilty, they will face jail,” he said.

In just 16 months, the government has taken record action, including: dismissal of 30 officials, pension termination for 68 retired employees, and 50% conviction rate in Vigilance cases.

CM Majhi also announced the establishment of 22 Vigilance Courts and directed the use of AI (artificial intelligence) technology to track complex financial crimes, including crypto-linked corruption. He expressed concern over young officers, selected through UPSC and OPSC, being involved in unethical practices, calling it a betrayal of public trust.

The Odisha CM assured full support to the Vigilance Department, stating, “Whatever they ask, I will provide. If anything is lacking, I’ll give it now.”

He also urged citizens and officials to unite in the fight against corruption, saying, “This is not just the Chief Minister’s mission — it’s everyone’s responsibility.”

The week-long campaign aims to raise awareness and reinforce the message that corruption must be eradicated collectively to ensure Odisha’s progress and integrity.
