Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the Chhath Puja celebrations in Bhubaneswar. Accompanied by wife, Dr. Priyanka Marandi, the Chief Minister offered Usha Arghya (morning oblation) to the rising sun and prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the people of Odisha.
Addressing the gathering, Majhi said, “Chhath Puja teaches us that the foundation of life lies in nature—water, air, and the energy of the sun. Through this festival, we express our gratitude to nature and draw inspiration to live in harmony with the environment.”

He highlighted that Chhath Puja is celebrated with deep spiritual reverence, devoid of extravagance, and stands as a symbol of purity and discipline.
Traditionally observed in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, the festival has now found a vibrant presence in Odisha, reflecting the state’s inclusive cultural spirit.
“I am delighted to see Chhath Puja being celebrated in Odisha with such enthusiasm and devotion,” Majhi added.
Concluding his speech, the Chief Minister expressed hope for a brighter future for Odisha, saying, “Let our farmers, workers, youth, and women be empowered, and may every household be filled with happiness and light.”
The event was attended by several dignitaries including President of the Vishwaas Foundation, Vice President, General Secretary and Coordinator of the Bihar Development Council.
