Earlier, PM Modi has significantly reduced the size of his convoy amid global oil crisis, directing the Special Protection Group (SPG) — the elite force responsible for his security — to keep the fleet to a bare minimum.
Sources indicate that during his recent visits to Assam, for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s swearing-in, and to Gujarat for the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav, the Prime Minister’s convoy was notably smaller than usual.
The SPG has begun implementing these instructions, trimming vehicle numbers while ensuring that essential security measures remain intact in line with protocol.
By cutting down his own convoy, PM Modi aims to demonstrate
solidarity with the public and reinforce his call for reduced fuel consumption
and expense management during challenging times.
