Argus News - CM Majhi Hails Nuapada Bypoll Win As Mandate For Development

Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday registered a decisive victory in the Nuapada by-election, marking a significant shift in Odisha’s political landscape. Party candidate Jay Dholakia clinched the seat with a massive margin of 83,748 votes, defeating Congress nominee Ghasiram Majhi. The BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria finished third with 38,408 votes.

CM Majhi Calls It People’s Mandate

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, celebrating the win, described it as a “clear mandate in favour of development and people’s welfare.” Taking to his X handle, Majhi said the result reflects the people’s trust in the BJP government’s policies and rejection of opposition smear campaigns. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the voters of Nuapada and congratulated Dholakia on his victory.

Gratitude to Party Workers

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the efforts of state BJP president Manmohan Samal, Ministers, MLAs, MPs, and party workers whose hard work contributed to the landslide win. He emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, development has become the defining agenda of governance.

BJP Strengthens Assembly Tally

With this victory, the BJP has snatched the Nuapada seat from the BJD, raising its tally to 79 seats in the 147-member Odisha Assembly. The win is particularly significant as it comes alongside the Bihar Assembly elections, where the NDA secured a historic mandate.

Dholakia Dedicates Victory to People

Jay Dholakia, in his victory speech, dedicated the win to the people of Nuapada, the BJP’s double-engine government, and his father Rajendra Dholakia. “This victory is not mine alone, but it belongs to Nuapada district and the vision of development,” he said.
