Bhubaneswar, Feb 16: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a comprehensive development plan for Bhubaneswar, also known as Ekamra Kshetra. The announcement came on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri, Sunday.

Addressing the media persons after offering his prayers at the revered Lingaraj Temple, CM Majhi revealed the government’s plans of developing the Temple City with a total investment of ₹330 crore.

 

The Odisha CM highlighted that the state government has set clear targets for the development of major spiritual tourism centres including Shreekhetra Puri, Arka Kshetra Konark, and Ekamra Kshetra.

“These centres represent the core of Odia culture, rooted in Jagannath worship, Shaiva traditions, and Shakti worship,” stressed CM Majhi.

 

“While the Jagannath Temple in Puri stands as a symbol of devotion, the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar represents another vital spiritual axis of Odisha,” noted the Chief Minister, underlining the symbolic importance of the Pinaka emblem of Lingaraj Temple and the spiritual significance of the Mahadeepa ritual.

He also outlined the development roadmap, saying: “In the first phase, projects worth ₹180 crore will be initiated soon, focusing on beautification and infrastructure enhancement of the Ekamra Kshetra.”

 

“In the second phase, an investment of ₹150 crore will be directed towards the development of the Bindusagar surroundings, along with the establishment of an Interpretation Centre to enrich visitors’ understanding of the heritage,” revealed CM Majhi.

 

“Together, these initiatives will transform the Ekamra Kshetra into a vibrant spiritual and cultural hub,” he concluded.

 

The ambitious development plan will benefit Ekamra Kshetra in emerging as a landmark destination blending spirituality, heritage, and modern amenities.
