Koida, Sep 25: A devastating road accident claimed the lives of five individuals and left 12 others with critical injuries in Sundargarh district.

According to reports, the incident occurred on NH 520 under K Balanga police limits when the bus was returning from Rourkela.

The bus had reportedly taken a wrong route due to traffic congestion on the opposite side. In a tragic turn of events, a fast-moving truck rammed into the bus, resulting in a high-impact crash.

Following the incident, five people died on the spot while 12 others sustained critical injuries.

On being informed, police rushed to the site and rescued the injured persons to the nearby hospital.

While a case has been registered, both the vehicles have been seized for further probe.

The accident led to major disruption in vehicular movement along NH 520, causing delays and congestion in the area.
