Rayagada, Jan 25: Panic gripped residents of Muniguda block in Rayagada district after a blood-soaked body was discovered lying on the roadside near the Ambadala railway station guest house late Saturday night.


According to preliminary reports, the victim’s identity remains unclear as the body bore severe injuries.


A partially severed palm was found at the spot, while the head appeared to have been smashed with a stone, making identification difficult.


The matter came to light after some local residents alerted authorities after spotting the body.


Upon being alerted, Muniguda police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. Forensic experts were called in to collect evidence, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Police officials said they are investigating all angles, including possible personal enmity or criminal involvement. Efforts are underway to establish the victim’s identity and trace the sequence of events leading to the suspected crime.


The shocking discovery has sparked fear among locals, who have urged authorities to intensify patrolling and ensure safety in the area. Police have assured that strict action will be taken once the culprits are identified.
