Bhubaneswar, May 3: A tragic road accident involving an Ama Bus claimed the life of a young man near Vani Vihar area in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Fatal Collision Near Vani Vihar
According to preliminary reports, the victim was travelling on a motorcycle from Rasulgarh towards Vani Vihar when an allegedly overspeeding Ama Bus hit him. The impact was severe, with injuries to the head and shoulder proving fatal. He was declared dead at the spot. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Police Rush to Spot
Personnel from Saheed Nagar Police Station reached the site soon after receiving information and took control of the situation. Authorities acted swiftly amid concerns of public unrest following the accident.

Traffic Disruption, Crowd Gathers

Ama Bus Accidents Under Scanner
The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety involving buses operated by Capital Region Urban Transport.

As per data shared in the Assembly last month, 32 major accidents involving Ama Bus services were reported across Odisha during 2024 and 2025, resulting in 14 deaths. Bhubaneswar accounted for the highest number of cases, followed by Cuttack and Rourkela.
