BMC Mayor, Commissioner, and senior officials recently
inspected the market and reviewed the proposed design.
The plan includes
construction of new shops, dedicated parking facilities, a slaughterhouse, and
improved road connectivity.
For years, Unit‑4 has struggled with severe parking issues, with roadside parking leading to congestion. Authorities said eviction will begin soon, followed by construction work.

✨During an inspection, the Mayor and Commissioner expressed
concern over fish and meat waste being dumped along the roadside, which has
been causing foul odour and inconvenience to customers.

Traders were warned against disposing of waste indiscriminately and instructed to store it in plastic drums. Officials emphasised that strict action will be taken against violators.
The BMC has urged encroachers to vacate the premises immediately, stating that the redevelopment will not only improve hygiene but also ease traffic and enhance customer experience at the market.
