Public Peace / Bhubaneswar Bars Raided for Late‑Night DJ Violations

Bhubaneswar, Sep 7: Commissionerate Police has intensified its crackdown on bars across the city ahead of the festive season, focusing on violations of operating hours and noise regulations. Officials said strict monitoring is underway to ensure public peace and compliance with law.

On Sunday night, Chandrasekharpur police raided three bars in Romeo Lane, BBI, and nearby areas after finding them open beyond permitted hours. Loud DJ music was also being played past the deadline, causing noise pollution in surrounding localities.

Police seized expensive DJ equipment from the establishments and issued notices to the bar authorities.

According to police, cases have been registered under Sections 223 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with provisions of the Odisha Fireworks and Loudspeaker Act.

Bar owners have been warned against repeating such violations, with officials stressing that tougher legal action will follow if rules are flouted again.

Authorities noted that during the festive season, crowds at bars and entertainment venues tend to increase, making enforcement crucial.

“Maintaining peace at night and preventing disturbances is our priority. Inspections and raids will continue across different bars in the coming days,” police sources said.

The action has sparked discussions among bar owners and managements, who have been reminded to strictly adhere to prescribed timings and noise limits. Commissionerate Police has made it clear that compliance is non‑negotiable, sending a strong message that violations will not be tolerated.
