Balasore, Apr 3: A shocking incident was reported from Chakeisab village under Kamarda police station limits in Odisha's Balasore district, where a man allegedly forced poison on his mother, leading to her death.
The accused was arrested, and an investigation is underway.
Family Dispute Turns Fatal
According to our source from the ground, frequent domestic disputes were ongoing between Padmabati Dalai and her son Laxmikant Dalai. The victim’s nephew alleged that on the previous night, the accused assaulted his mother and forced her out of the house.
Mother Poisoned After Son Returns Home
It is further alleged that the accused returned home in the morning after dropping his wife at her parental house and forcibly administered poison to his mother. She died shortly after consuming the substance.
Villagers Detain Accused, Police Launch Probe
Following the incident, family members and villagers tied the accused to a tree and informed the police. Upon receiving information, police reached the spot, rescued the accused, and took him into custody. Further investigation into the incident is currently in progress.
Past Enmity Leads to Assault
In a separate incident, a 50-year-old man and his 16-year-old grandson sustained critical injuries in an attack over past enmity in Anantpur village under Panidola Panchayat of Pipili block in Odisha's Puri district.
The victims, identified as Radhamohan Mohanty and his grandson Satyaprakash Mohanty, were first rushed to Pipili Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment.

According to reports, the assault occurred late Thursday evening when tensions from an earlier quarrel escalated into a coordinated attack. Both Radhamohan and his grandson sustained serious injuries during the assault.
Satyaprakash, a Class 10 student, was reportedly caught in the violence while accompanying his grandfather.
The accused was arrested, and an investigation is underway.
