Puri, Jan 21: The revered Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain out of bpunds for more than one and a half hours for the sacred Bada Mahasnana ritual.


This important ceremony, part of the temple’s traditional practices, involves the ceremonial bathing and purification of the deities after the completion of their rest period, known as Avakash Niti.


According to reports, the Bada Mahasnana was conducted after the completion of Avakash Niti.


The deities will underwent the elaborate Mahasnana puja, which included ceremonial bathing and purification rites.


Temple priests will carry out the rituals with traditional chants and offerings, after which the deities were adorned with fresh attire.


The process also involved dhua (cleansing) and the application of chun (lime wash) to restore the sanctity of the temple surroundings.

Once the rituals concluded, the temple will reopen for devotees, and public darshan resumed in its natural course.
