Jagatsinghpur, Nov 22: In a breakthrough in the suspected Bangladeshi infiltration case, the Jagatsinghpur police on Saturday arrested Abdul Motalif Khan, alias Tiki -- the younger brother of key accused Sikandar Alam, from Khordha.
The cops reportedly have seized several incriminating documents from Tiki's possession.
Earlier in the day, police nabbed Sikanadar from Jajpur following a seven-day-long manhunt.
Police had laid a network of surveillance across multiple locations to track their movements. Sikandar was apprehended along with his passport, laptop and several important documents.
Police alleged that Sikandar had illegally constructed houses on government land at Beheram slum under Tarikunda panchayat in Jagatsinghpur district and sheltered Bangladeshi nationals there.
Investigators believe Sikandar may have foreign links and are questioning him at an undisclosed location. During interrogation, it was found that he moved through Krishnanandapur, Tendakuda in Kendrapara district, before finally reaching Jajpur. He was using two mobile phones -- one switched off while he kept a small feature phone switched on -- which helped police trace and arrest him.

Police sources said Sikandar operated multiple bank accounts in major metropolitan cities, including Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. A bank account at a private bank on Mukherjee Road has now come under scrutiny, and police have issued a KYC notice to the bank. Investigators suspect foreign funds may have been routed into this account, and a detailed financial audit is underway.
Further interrogation and verification of financial documents are continuing, police said.
