Rourkela, Jan 10: Panic gripped residents of Jalda here after a small aircraft crashed around nine kilometres from the Rourkela airstrip.


According to reports, the incident occurred when an A-1 nine-seater private flight, carrying around six passengers, was on its way from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. Meanwhile, the aircraft made an emergency crash landing near Jalda.


Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise followed by plumes of smoke rising from the crash site, which quickly drew large crowds of onlookers.


Local authorities and emergency response teams rushed to the spot to assess the situation and provide assistance.


At least six occupants sustained critical injuries and were immediately rescued to nearby hospital.


As of now, details regarding the number of passengers onboard, and the extent of casualties or damage remain unclear.


Officials have stated that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
