Baripada, Feb 8: After a brief respite, cold conditions returned to Mayurbhanj district, with temperatures dipping sharply across several regions. Similipal recorded a minimum temperature of 1 degree Celsius on Sunday, marking a further fall from 2 degrees Celsius recorded the previous day.
According to weather information, cold conditions are being felt across most of the 26 blocks in Mayurbhanj district as northern winds continue to sweep through the region throughout the day.
Our source from the ground informed that residents in several areas are experiencing intense cold, particularly in regions located at the foothills of Similipal.
Among the affected areas are Jashipur, Sukruli, Raruan, Thakurmunda, Karanjia, Bisoi, Bangriposi and Baripada, where cold conditions intensified.

Temperature readings from various locations in and around Similipal indicate a significant drop. The minimum temperature recorded at Upper Barahakamuda was 1°C, while Chahala recorded 5°C. Barehipani registered 9°C and Gudugudia recorded 8°C. Satkosia recorded 14°C, Ramatirtha 13°C and Kiajhari 14°C.
Our correspondent Kishor Sethy said that the continuous flow of northern winds has contributed to the sudden drop in temperature, leading to a renewed chill across the district.
As per available weather information, no large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) is expected over the next two days and a rise by 2-4°C is forecast over the subsequent 4-5 days in several districts of Odisha.

For the next 24 hours, in Bhubaneswar, the maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 32°C and 17°C, respectively.
