Jajpur Road, Sep 18: An 11-year-old boy who had gone missing from Mayurbhanj district was reunited with his father after Panikoili police rescued him and traced his family.
The child, identified as Suraj Tudu, was found at Panikoili Chhak on September 15 after he reportedly lost his way and boarded a bus travelling from Baripada towards Bhubaneswar.
According to a source, Suraj, son of Singhu Tudu from Jamda under Jharpokharia police station limits in Mayurbhanj district, had been moving around the local area as schools were closed that day. After losing his way, he reportedly boarded the bus and eventually reached Panikoili.

Bus Owner Alerts Police
The bus owner noticed the child travelling alone and informed Panikoili police. Acting on the information, Panikoili police station Inspector-In-Charge Purnachandra Pattayat reached Panikoili Chhak and rescued the boy from the bus.
The child was brought to the police station and questioned about his home and family. However, he was unable to properly explain how he had reached Panikoili or provide sufficient details about his family.
Police subsequently sent Suraj to a Balashram in Jajpur for his safety and appealed to members of the public to contact the police if they recognised him.
Family Traces Child
Meanwhile, Suraj’s father and family members had been searching for him and approached their local police station after failing to locate him.
After receiving information about the child’s whereabouts, Singhu contacted the Panikoili police station and reached there. Panikoili police brought Suraj from the Balashram and handed him over to his father after establishing his identity.
Singhu expressed happiness after being reunited with his son and thanked the police for helping bring the child home safely.
