Bhubaneswar, Jun 22: The School & Mass Education Department on Monday announced that ten schools from Odisha have been selected for National Awards and Recognitions under the Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) 2025–26, a pioneering initiative promoting safe, sustainable, and child-friendly learning environments.

Framework for Green Schools

The SHVR framework evaluates schools on sanitation and hygiene, safe drinking water, greenery and biodiversity, waste management, and climate-resilient practices. The initiative encourages institutions to adopt environmentally responsible measures while safeguarding student well-being.

Odisha’s Achievement

Out of 20 schools nominated from Odisha for national-level evaluation, ten have been selected for awards. At the national level, 191 schools from 29 States and Union Territories have been chosen for awards under SHVR 2025–26. Each award-winning school will receive a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, a certificate of recognition, and the opportunity to participate in a three-day exposure visit to another state to share and learn best practices.
