New Delhi, Feb 5: The Union Public Service Commission has
released the notification for the Civil Services Examination and Indian Forest
Service Examination 2026. The notification includes the entire schedule of the
exams, from the preliminary to the main exams.
Interested candidates can now apply through the official
website, upsconline.nic.in.
According to the notification, 933 vacancies will be filled
through the Civil Services Examination. The application process began on
February 4, 2026, and will remain open until February 24, 2026, 6 PM.

The examination will be conducted in three stages: Prelims
(objective-type screening test), Mains (descriptive papers), and the
Interview/Personality Test. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May
24, 2026. Eligibility criteria require candidates to hold a graduate degree and
be aged between 21 and 32 years.
This year’s notification also highlights key reforms in
eligibility rules. Candidates already serving in IAS or IFS posts will not be
allowed to reappear in CSE 2026, while IPS officers cannot opt for IPS again,
though they may compete for IAS, IFS, or other Group‑A services.
Additionally, candidates selected through CSE 2026 will get only one chance in
CSE 2027 to improve their rank.
