Kolkata, Mar 30: Senior BJP leader and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan intensified the party’s campaign in West Bengal with visits to Kanthi and Haldia. During his tour, Pradhan held discussions with party workers, energizing the cadre ahead of the upcoming elections.
The highlight of his visit was a massive public rally in Haldia, where Pradhan strongly criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.
Speaking ahead of Suvendu Adhikari’s nomination, Pradhan asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the state is certain.
Pradhan criticised the TMC government for failing to address key concerns such as unemployment, women’s safety, and farmers’ rights. He alleged that the ruling party has neglected the aspirations of the people of Bengal, leaving youth without opportunities and farmers struggling for their due.
“The people of Bengal deserve a government that ensures dignity, safety, and prosperity,” he said.
Highlighting the BJP’s campaign theme of a “double engine government,” Pradhan argued that only a BJP-led administration at both the state and central levels could guarantee corruption-free governance and genuine development. He emphasised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Together with all, Development for all), promising that Bengal would benefit from inclusive growth under BJP’s leadership.
The rally witnessed a large turnout, with supporters cheering as Pradhan reiterated the party’s commitment to transforming Bengal’s governance. He urged voters to reject what he described as TMC’s misrule and embrace a new political alternative that prioritizes accountability and progress.
The elections to the 294-member West Bengal assembly will be held in two phases - on April 23 and 29. Votes will be counted on May 4.
