This is not the first time Gandhi has sought medical attention in recent months. In February 2025, she was admitted briefly to the same hospital for a stomach-related issue, where she was treated under the supervision of a gastroenterology specialist.

Earlier, in June 2025, she spent four days at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after being admitted with an abdominal infection. She was discharged on June 19 following close medical observation.
Her health concerns have also taken her outside Delhi. On June 7, 2025, Gandhi visited the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla for a routine check-up. Officials described the visit as precautionary, citing minor health issues.
Sonia Gandhi has also travelled abroad for medical care. In September 2022, she flew to the United States for a deferred medical check-up that had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She was accompanied by her son, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during that trip.
Despite these recurring health challenges, Gandhi continues
to remain active in political and organizational matters within the Congress
party.
