Ahmedabad, Nov 8: In a swift act of bravery, a jewellery shop owner foiled a major robbery by apprehending a woman who had entered the store intending to steal valuable ornaments.

The incident that took place on November 3 in Gujarat's Ahmedabad was also caught on CCTV.

In the video, the woman, posing as a customer, was seen entering the gold and silver shop. Moments later, she suddenly threw chilli powder into the shopkeeper's eyes in an attempt to rob him. However, the chilli powder failed to reach the eyes of shop owner.

Realising the woman's intentions, the shopkeeper swiftly reacted and intercepted her. In a burst of self-defense, he reportedly slapped the woman multiple times—approximately 20 times within 25 seconds—before dragging her out of the shop.

Despite the intensity, the shopkeeper has declined to file a formal complaint. However, police officials have initiated an investigation based on CCTV footage to identify and locate the suspect.

Ranip Police Station PI Ketan Vyas said that the shopkeeper is refusing to file a complaint, but police have initiated an investigation.

The senior official  also confirmed that officers have met with the shopkeeper twice to encourage him to file a complaint, but he remains unwilling.

Nevertheless, authorities are proceeding with efforts to trace the woman involved.
