PM Modi’s 7 Appeals Key to Sustainable Growth, Says Assocham
Assocham Hails Modi’s Seven Mantras

Key Points

Leading Industry chamber Assocham has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s seven appeals to citizens as “seven mantras” for sustainable growth, resilience, and competitiveness. The body said these measures would help India navigate global economic disruptions and strengthen its journey towards Viksit Bharat.
New Delhi, May 11: Leading industry chamber Assocham on Monday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s seven appeals to the nation, describing them as vital steps to build resilience and strengthen India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat.

The Prime Minister’s call for collective participation to tackle global economic disruptions, supply chain challenges, and rising prices caused by international conflicts has been widely interpreted as a roadmap for responsible living and sustainable growth.

Nirmal K Minda, President of Assocham, said the seven appeals represent “seven mantras” to enhance India’s resilience, competitiveness, and strength in uncertain times. “Shift to EV and rail transport would help reduce pollution, speed up connectivity, and support Ease of Living in the country. PM Modi’s appeal to prefer public transport and metro travel would again support the logistics strength and fuel security of the country,” Minda noted.

Another key appeal to reduce the use of chemical fertilisers and foreign travel, Assocham said, would not only save foreign exchange reserves but also advance India’s mission towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The chamber also appreciated Modi’s call to limit excessive gold purchases, pointing out that India imported nearly $70 billion worth of gold in FY26, a major drain on forex reserves.

“These seven appeals will be adopted by our citizens for the strong buildup of the Indian economy, the welfare of people, and the strength of the Indian economy in the global ecosystem,” Assocham said in its statement.

India has managed to keep petroleum prices steady despite more than 70 days of global volatility triggered by the US–Iran conflict. In many countries, fuel prices have surged by 30 to 70 per cent. However, India’s oil marketing companies have absorbed losses of nearly Rs 1,000 crore a day, with under-recoveries running to Rs 2 lakh crore in Q1 2026, ensuring that citizens are shielded from the burden of astronomical global prices.

Assocham emphasized that Modi’s seven appeals - covering fuel use, EV adoption, public transport, reduced foreign travel, limited gold purchases, restrained fertiliser use, and support for indigenous products - collectively reflect a vision for sustainable growth and resilience in the face of global uncertainty.
