New Delhi, May 27: As large parts of India grapple with soaring temperatures, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged citizens to take all possible precautions to safeguard themselves and others during the ongoing heatwave.

In a series of social media posts, the Prime Minister emphasized hydration, compassion, and vigilance as key measures to combat the harsh weather conditions.

 

Staying Hydrated and Alert

PM Modi urged people to carry water while stepping out, stay hydrated, and extend kindness by offering water to others. He cautioned citizens to watch for signs of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, nausea, headaches, and extreme fatigue, stressing that timely care can prevent heatstroke. Vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and outdoor workers were highlighted as needing special attention.

The Prime Minister advised citizens to regularly check on elderly parents, grandparents, and loved ones, reminding them to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours and to rest adequately. He underscored the importance of community sensitivity, urging people to look after one another with compassion during these difficult days.

 

Extending Compassion to Animals and Birds

PM Modi also appealed to citizens to place bowls of water outside homes, balconies, terraces, shops, and offices to help birds and animals survive the extreme heat. He praised those who already keep pitchers of water outside for public use, calling such acts of kindness vital during the heatwave.

The Prime Minister’s message comes as India faces rising temperatures across multiple states, with health experts warning of increased risks of dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
