Chandigarh witnessed a unique “Petrol Langar” where free fuel coupons worth ₹500 for bikes and ₹1,000 for cars were distributed, drawing crowds and sparking curiosity across the city.

Chandigarh, Aug 18: Langars in India are usually associated with food — rice, dal, puri, or vegetable curry served freely to all. But on Tuesday, Chandigarh witnessed something entirely different: a “Petrol Langar.”

Organized by Amritsar’s Rakesh Trehan, popularly known as ‘Raja Di King’, the event offered free petrol to vehicle owners.

Twowheelers received coupons worth 500, while car owners were given coupons worth 1,000 to fill fuel at designated pumps. The initiative was held at Oberoi Petrol Pump in Sector10 and Sidhu Petrol Pump in Sector7, with coupon distribution beginning at 5 PM.

According to the organizers, only those arriving with their vehicles were eligible to receive coupons. The announcement sparked curiosity and excitement across the city, with long queues forming at the pumps.

Residents described the event as “unbelievable” and “unique,” noting that while food langars are common, a petrol langar was unheard of.
