Delhi, Nov 8: A devastating fire broke out in a cluster of huts near the Rithala Metro station in Delhi's Rohini area late Friday night, resulting in the death of one person.

The blaze, which took approximately six hours and over 15 fire engines to control, has rendered many families homeless.

According to reports, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received an emergency call at 10:56 pm. Soon after, the firefighter team reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.

The fire is reported to have started in one slum and rapidly spread through the area, which is home to an estimated 300 to 400 huts.

Firefighters battled the flames for hours before finally bringing the blaze under control.

Fire officials confirmed that one person succumbed to the blaze, while the full extent of property loss is still being assessed. Many families lost all their belongings and are now in urgent need of shelter and relief.

Local authorities and civic agencies have now been informed about the incident and are expected to provide necessary aid and rehabilitation to the victims who have lost their homes and belongings in the fire.

The focus is now shifting to relief efforts for the affected families.
