New Delhi, Feb 6: Tragedy struck in Delhi’s Janakpuri area on Friday when a man, identified as Kamal, died after falling into a pit dug up on the road.

The incident occurred near the Janakpuri District Centre, raising serious concerns about civic safety and negligence in the locality.

According to reports, Kamal was last in touch with his family while he was in the district centre area. Later, when his family tried to contact him, his phone was found switched off. Worried about his whereabouts, the family began searching for him and claimed to have visited several police stations in the area before learning about the accident.

Authorities said the pit had been dug up for construction or repair work, but proper safety measures and warnings were allegedly missing. The fall proved fatal, and Kamal succumbed to his injuries.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who have demanded accountability from civic authorities for failing to secure the site.
