Key Points

The leopard was tranquillised inside a house in Lane No. 6 and will now be shifted to the Jhalana Leopard Reserve.
Jaipur, Nov 20: A leopard that reportedly created panic after entering the official bungalow of Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, has been successfully tranquilised by the officials of the Forest Department.

The incident triggered widespread panic in the high-security zone.

According to reports, the leopard was first spotted around 7:30 AM near the Tiny Blossom Senior Secondary School.  Moments later, the big cat was seen entering the minister’s bungalow, located directly opposite Sachin Pilot’s residence.

On being alerted, Forest department teams and local police rushed to the spot and soon a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched.

After nearly two hours of careful tracking, the leopard was finally tranquillised inside a house in Lane No. 6 at around 11 a.m. and captured without any injuries to residents or rescue personnel.

The leopard will now be shifted to the Jhalana Leopard Reserve, said forest officials.

“The leopard was safely sedated and will be released into its natural habitat after a medical examination,” said a forest department official. “We are also investigating how it entered such a densely populated and secured area.”

This is not the first time a leopard has been sighted in Jaipur’s residential zones.

Experts believe increasing urbanisation and shrinking forest cover are pushing wildlife into human settlements in search of food and shelter.

The incident has reignited concerns over human-wildlife conflict and the need for better urban wildlife management strategies.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any unusual animal sightings immediately.
