Bengaluru, Jan 13: On Monday in Karnataka's Dharwad, two students were kidnapped from their school during lunchtime but were later found safe after the man, who took them was caught by police after his bike met with an accident.
The two children named -- Tanveer Dodmani and Lakshmi Kariyappanavar -- class 3 students at a government primary school in the Kamalapur area, went missing after the lunch break. Soon their parents were informed and a frantic search was launched, but the children could not be located.
Later, on being informed, police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. During the probe, CCTV footage from near the school showed a man leading the children onto a motorcycle and then riding away with them.
A large search began, and the police started looking for the children. Meanwhile, the man who took them, identified as Karim Mestri, was driving towards Dandeli. But on the way, he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. On receiving information about the accident, Dandeli police rushed to the spot and found the two children safe with the injured man.

While the man, injured in the crash, was taken to a
government hospital, the two kids were taken into the custody and was later
handed to their parents.

Police registered a case and the accused was taken into custody for further interrogation.
