Key Points

The Kedarnath Temple Committee in Uttarakhand has banned mobile phones inside the temple premises ahead of its reopening on April 22. Photography, video recording, and social media reels have also been prohibited to maintain the sanctity of the shrine and ensure a peaceful darshan experience. Authorities have warned of strict action against violations.

New Delhi, Apr 21: The Kedarnath Temple Committee in Uttarakhand has announced a strict ban on mobile phones inside the temple premises ahead of its reopening on April 22. Along with mobile phones, photography, video recording, and making social media reels have also been prohibited. The move aims to preserve the sanctity of the shrine and ensure a smoother darshan experience for devotees.

Committee member Vineet Posti shared details of the decision, stating that devotees will no longer be allowed to carry mobile phones inside the temple premises. He emphasized that anyone found violating these rules may face penalties, including possible legal action. The administration has urged devotees to cooperate and respect the spiritual atmosphere of the temple.

The decision comes at a time when the temple is preparing to welcome thousands of pilgrims for the new season. With crowds expected to rise, authorities believe limiting mobile phone usage will reduce distractions and help maintain peace and order during darshan.

The Kedarnath Temple will reopen on April 22 at 8 AM, following traditional rituals. The ceremonial palanquin carrying the idol has already left from Gaurikund and is on its way to the shrine. As per tradition, the temple doors open only after the palanquin reaches Kedarnath.

The temple remains closed for nearly six months each year due to harsh weather conditions. This year, the reopening has been scheduled during Vrish Lagna, with the auspicious timing decided earlier on Shivratri. Alongside Kedarnath, the Badrinath Temple will reopen on April 23, while the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples were opened on April 19.

With the new rules in place, authorities hope to provide devotees with a more peaceful and spiritually fulfilling experience at one of India’s most revered shrines.
