Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced his marriage to journalist Nidhi Razdan, three months after the Supreme Court dissolved his marriage to Payal Abdullah.
New Delhi, Oct 31: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tied the knot with noted journalist Nidhi Razdan, announcing the news through a social media post on Saturday, three months after the Supreme Court dissolved his marriage to estranged wife Payal Abdullah.
Omar shared photographs with Nidhi Razdan on social media, describing the occasion as the beginning of a “new journey”. The announcement comes after the Supreme Court, on July 31, this year, granted him a divorce from Payal by mutual consent under Article 142 of the Constitution.
The Supreme Court passed the order after both parties informed it that they had amicably settled their differences and agreed to withdraw all pending cases against each other. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the couple, had told the court that they had resolved their disputes through a mutual settlement.
The matter had reached the Supreme Court after Omar challenged the Delhi High Court's decision upholding a family court order that had rejected his divorce petition.
