Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: Every year on December 4, India celebrates Navy Day to remember and honour the courage, dedication, and contributions of the Indian Navy to the world.

Navy Day 2025 brings the nation together to acknowledge the unwavering commitment of naval personnel who safeguard India's vast coastline and maritime interests.

In 2025, Navy Day celebrations highlight the Indian Navy's transformation into a technologically advanced, combat-ready, and globally respected force. With a strong emphasis on indigenisation, the Navy continues to strengthen its capabilities under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Indigenous aircraft carriers, stealth destroyers, submarines, and advanced surveillance systems reflect India's growing self-reliance in maritime defence.

The significance of Navy Day dates back to Operation Trident(1971) during the Indo-Pakistan War, when the Indian Navy launched a daring missile attack on Karachi harbour. This historic operation demonstrated India's naval prowess and strategic strength, ultimately contributing to the country's decisive victory. Navy Day is observed in remembrance of this achievement and as a tribute to the heroes who made it possible.

Beyond warfare, the Indian Navy plays a vital role in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations. From rescuing civilians during cyclones and floods to evacuating Indian nationals from conflict zones abroad, the Navy stands as a symbol of hope and swift response. Its role in ensuring maritime security, anti-piracy operations, and freedom of navigation across the Indian Ocean Region has earned International admiration.
