Kerala, Oct 22: An unexpected incident occurred during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Kerala when her helicopter got stuck while landing in Pramadam, Pathanamthitta district.

According to reports, the mishap took place on Wednesday morning as the President was en route to the Sabarimala temple.

Due to inclement weather, the landing site was shifted from Nilakkal to the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Pramadam. Upon touchdown, the wheels of the helicopter sank into depressions in the freshly laid concrete, which had not fully set.

Despite the incident, President Murmu safely disembarked and continued her journey to Pamba by road.

Visuals from the site showed police and fire personnel working to free the helicopter’s landing gear from the soft concrete.

Officials confirmed that the helipad had been finalised as the landing site at the last moment. No injuries were reported, and the President’s schedule remained unaffected.

The India Air Force and local authorities are reviewing the incident to ensure such lapses do not recur during high-profile visits.
