Bijapur, Oct 3: In a disturbing act of violence, suspected Maoists allegedly killed a 65-year-old man in Salatang village under Kistaram police station limits.

According to reports, a group of Naxalites entered the village late on Thursday night. The red rebels then dragged the elderly man outside of his house and killed him after accusing him of being a police informer

After being alerted about the murder in the morning, a police team was sent to the spot and the body was shifted to a hospital for the post-mortem.

The brutal killing has once again highlighted the ongoing threat posed by Maoist insurgents in the region.

Police have launched an investigation and are working to gather more details about the incident. Security forces have also intensified patrols in the area to prevent further unrest and ensure the safety of residents.
