Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan secured Rank 28 in The Indian Express IE100 list of India's most powerful individuals.
Bhubaneswar, Mar 29: The latest IE100 list released by The Indian Express has placed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Rank 28 among the country’s most powerful individuals, reflecting the Sambalpur MP's growing influence in policymaking and organisational strategy within the BJP.
According to the list, Narendra Modi continues to hold the top position for the 12th consecutive year, followed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Rank 2. Mohan Bhagwat, Rajnath Singh and Piyush Goyal complete the top five, indicating continuity in India’s power structure.
Pradhan’s ranking at 28 highlights his dual role - steering key reforms in the education sector while also playing a crucial part in the BJP’s electoral machinery. His involvement in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and pushing for structural changes in higher education has kept him in the national spotlight.

The list underscores that political power in India remains largely concentrated within the ruling establishment. Only two Opposition leaders - Rahul Gandhi (Rank 9) and Mamata Banerjee - feature within the top 20, signalling what experts describe as the Opposition’s limited ability to counter the BJP’s expanding influence.
Among other notable names, industrialists Mukesh Ambani (Rank 11) and Gautam Adani (Rank 12) continue to dominate the corporate sphere, while figures like Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Rank 27) and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval (Rank 29) also feature prominently.
The IE100 2026 list suggests that despite global uncertainties and shifting geopolitical dynamics, India’s internal power hierarchy remains largely stable, with leaders like Pradhan consolidating their influence through governance and organisational strength.
