Mysuru, Mar 26: India’s education system must become more rooted in indigenous values, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Thursday while attending a series of programmes in Mysuru.
Pradhan emphasised that the true objective of education is to build a holistic individual -- one who remains connected to cultural values and fulfils responsibilities towards the nation.
During his visit, Pradhan participated in an international conference titled ‘Ekatma Manav Darshan’, organised by Prajna Pravah and SPMR Foundation at Karnataka State Open University. Speaking at the event, he highlighted India’s knowledge traditions and the philosophy of Deendayal Upadhyaya.
He said that Upadhyaya’s concept of 'Integral Humanism' is not merely an ideology but a guiding philosophy for national life.
Pradhan further held discussions with vice-chancellors of various universities, stressing the effective implementation of the National Education Policy under the leadership of Narendra Modi. He underscored the need to make India’s higher education globally competitive and to establish Indian campuses abroad.
