Key Points

The vehicle was found abandoned at a farmhouse in Khandavali village, Haryana, just hours after a high alert was issued across the capital.
New Delhi, Nov 12: In a major breakthrough following the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed nine lives, the Delhi Police have recovered a red Ford EcoSport believed to be linked to the prime suspect, Dr Umar Un Nabi.

The vehicle was found abandoned at a farmhouse in Khandavali village, Haryana, just hours after a high alert was issued across the capital.

The car, bearing registration number DL10CK0458, was traced after investigators connected it to suspects already linked to the Hyundai i20 used in the explosion.

The alert prompted a citywide search, with all police stations, posts, and border checkpoints instructed to be on the lookout for the red SUV.

At least five Delhi Police teams were deployed to locate the vehicle, with assistance from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Police.

The car is registered under Dr Umar Un Nabi, a medical professional formerly associated with Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, Haryana.

Sources say Dr Umar was driving the vehicle that exploded near Red Fort on Monday evening. Investigations reveal that Dr Umar was part of a larger terror module and had been shifting locations under pressure from security agencies.

The Al-Falah University, in a public statement, distanced itself from the suspect, affirming its commitment to national security.

“We stand in solidarity with the nation and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to unity, peace, and security,” the statement read.

The university also pledged full cooperation with investigating authorities. Further scrutiny revealed that the red EcoSport was purchased using a fake address in North-East Delhi.

The vehicle is suspected to have been used for reconnaissance activities prior to the blast. Its registration details have now been circulated to all border units to prevent any escape attempts.
