Shimla, Oct 8: At least 16 people were killed after the bus they were travelling was hit by heavy rocks and mud slid down from the hillside. The incident was reported from Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh.

According to reports, a huge portion of a mountain gave way and fell on the moving bus in the Bhalughat area near Berthin around 6.40 p.m. on Tuesday. Around 17 passengers were on board at the time of the incident.

While 15 people were found dead, two were rescued in a critical condition.

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah were among the leaders who expressed their grief.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured would get Rs 50,000.
