The Minister praised Odisha’s Sambalpuri and Ikat weavers for their patience, skill, and artistry, noting that their creations have become synonymous with the state’s cultural pride. He emphasized that the exhibition not only honors these artisans but also provides them with a platform to connect with global markets, thereby expanding opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
Dharmendra Pradhan also underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Purvodaya Mission, calling it a transformative initiative aimed at accelerating the development of Eastern India. He stressed that the growth of this region is vital for the overall progress of the country. Linking the mission to the handloom sector, he pointed out that empowering artisans through modern platforms such as e-commerce and ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) would ensure their direct participation in the global economy.
