New Delhi, Apr 27: A vibrant celebration of India’s cultural heritage unfolded at the National Crafts Museum in New Delhi as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a special exhibition dedicated to the handloom and handicrafts of Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Assam. Organized by the RSB Foundation, the exhibition carried the central theme of “Krishna”, symbolizing unity in diversity and the timeless artistry of India’s weaving and craft traditions.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister lauded the artisans and weavers as more than just craftsmen, describing them as the true bearers of India’s rich cultural legacy. “Every thread and every color reflects centuries of tradition and the tireless dedication of our artisans,” he remarked, highlighting their role in shaping the identity of the nation.

The Minister praised Odisha’s Sambalpuri and Ikat weavers for their patience, skill, and artistry, noting that their creations have become synonymous with the state’s cultural pride. He emphasized that the exhibition not only honors these artisans but also provides them with a platform to connect with global markets, thereby expanding opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

Dharmendra Pradhan also underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Purvodaya Mission, calling it a transformative initiative aimed at accelerating the development of Eastern India. He stressed that the growth of this region is vital for the overall progress of the country. Linking the mission to the handloom sector, he pointed out that empowering artisans through modern platforms such as e-commerce and ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) would ensure their direct participation in the global economy.
