Bhubaneswar, Mar 26: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has firmly rejected rumours of fuel shortages or price hikes, assuring citizens that petroleum products and natural gas are available in sufficient quantities across the country.
In a high-level virtual review meeting held today, senior officials including Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh joined ministry representatives to assess the current supply situation. The primary focus of the meeting was ensuring uninterrupted fuel distribution to consumers nationwide.
Officials emphasized that refineries are operating at full
capacity, and there is no disruption in the supply of petrol, diesel, CNG, or
LPG. Citizens were urged not to panic or hoard fuel, as such actions could
create unnecessary strain on the system. To further strengthen supply, the
ministry directed that commercial establishments should prioritize the use of
PNG (piped natural gas) over LPG cylinders.

The government also warned against black marketing and hoarding, stating that strict enforcement will be carried out under the Essential Commodities Act. State administrations have been instructed to take immediate action against violators to maintain stability in the fuel market.

To counter misinformation spreading on social media, the ministry has launched awareness campaigns urging people not to believe unverified claims. It stressed that the government is committed to transparency and will provide timely updates on the situation.
Additionally, 24-hour control rooms have been activated at district and state levels to monitor fuel supply and report daily updates. This step aims to ensure accountability and quick response to any emerging challenges.
The Ministry reiterated that there is no cause for alarm and
assured citizens that the supply of petroleum and natural gas remains stable.
