Delhi, Feb17: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on
Tuesday said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a pivotal role in
transforming India into a global knowledge superpower by 2047. Speaking at the
India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, he underlined that the country’s
rapid adoption of AI marks a new chapter in its journey as a leading
technological force.

Addressing a special session titled “Pushing the Frontier of AI in India” organised by the Ministry of Education at Bharat Mandapam, Pradhan described the summit as a visionary initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at accelerating AI growth in India. “The world is watching India’s swift embrace of AI. By 2047, AI will be central to building a developed India and positioning the nation as a global knowledge power,” he said.

✨Pradhan stressed that AI in education and AI-related education are mutually reinforcing. Today’s youth, he noted, are markedly different from previous generations, with innovative thinking and a readiness to adopt new technologies. He urged young Indians to embrace AI not only as a tool for learning but also as a means of empowerment and innovation. “The unique efforts of India’s youth will make the country an unrivalled force on the global AI map,” he added.
The Minister highlighted that the Ministry of Education has,
over the past decade, laid the groundwork for AI-enabled learning through
national digital platforms, policy frameworks, institutional reforms, and
initiatives across school education, higher education, skill development,
advanced research, and innovation. Integrating AI into the education system, he
said, aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the
national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The session also featured Minister of State for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhury, alongside leading academicians, industry representatives, and investors. The deliberations focused on preparing India’s national AI-in-education roadmap and strengthening collaboration between government, academia, and industry.
