Dhaka, Jan 6: Bangladesh witnessed two violent incidents within a span of 24 hours, leaving two men dead in separate districts.
According to reports, Sarat Mani Chakraborty, a Hindu grocery store owner, was reportedly attacked with sharp weapons in the Narsingdi district around 10 pm last night. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after the assault.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Earlier the same day, another killing was reported from Jashore district. Rana Pratap, a 45‑year‑old factory owner and acting editor of a local newspaper, was shot in the head by a group of men. Reports suggest that the attackers also slit his throat before fleeing the scene.
Local sources alleged that Pratap had multiple cases filed against him, though the circumstances surrounding his death are still being probed.
