Cairo, Apr 16: US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire following weeks of escalating conflict.
The truce is scheduled to begin at 5pm Eastern Time, Trump said in a post on social media, describing his discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “excellent”.
First Direct Talks In Decades
The development comes after Israel and Lebanon held their first direct diplomatic talks in decades in Washington on Tuesday, amid more than a month of fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group.

Push For Lasting Peace
Trump said he has directed Vice President JD Vance and other officials to work closely with both sides to “achieve a Lasting PEACE”.
