Long‑Press ‘Like’ to Pay: Elon Musk Unveils New Feature for X

Key Points
Elon Musk proposes a new X Money feature enabling $1 payments via long‑pressing the Like button, aiming to merge social engagement with micro‑transactions in his vision of an “everything app.”
New Delhi, Oct 25: Elon Musk is pushing X further into the world of digital finance with a bold new idea: a “long‑press Like” payment feature that would let users instantly send $1 to content creators.
Positioned as part of his plan to turn X into a seamless “everything app,” the proposed tool blends social engagement with micro‑transactions, aiming to make tipping and support as effortless as liking a post.
Announcing the idea in a post on X, Musk explained, “We’re adding long press on like to send someone $1 via X Money.” The feature is designed to simplify micro‑transactions, enabling users to tip creators or support posts they enjoy without leaving the app.

✨Under the proposed system, pressing and holding the standard Like button would trigger a $1 payment to the post’s author, processed seamlessly through X Money.
While the concept has sparked interest among users and creators, the company has not yet shared a rollout timeline or clarified eligibility requirements.
The initiative is part of Musk’s broader vision of turning X, formerly Twitter, into an “everything app” that integrates social networking, messaging, payments, and other services.
X Money, which recently launched in the United States, already offers peer‑to‑peer transfers and an X Visa debit card usable for both physical and digital transactions. The card can be linked to Apple Pay, enabling contactless payments.
The platform has also promoted features aimed at easing international transfers, though benefits vary depending on user eligibility and terms.
For now, X Money remains focused on the US market. The company has not announced when the service — or the proposed Like‑button payment feature — will expand to other countries, including India, one of the world’s largest digital payments markets.
