Tehran, Sep 2: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes on US bases and assets across the region, a move it said was in direct response to American attacks earlier in the day that left at least five people dead and more than 50 wounded.
In a statement carried by Sepah News, the IRGC said its “regret‑inducing response against the aggressors” was underway, adding that its air defence forces had shot down a “hostile” US MQ‑9 Reaper drone.
The IRGC’s aerospace division claimed to have launched ballistic missile and drone strikes on Camp Titin in Jordan and Shaikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, reporting that “a large number of” US troops were killed and several facilities and helicopters destroyed.

✨The IRGC stressed that US strikes would only prolong the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and strengthen Iran’s resolve to “suppress the foreign forces interfering in the waterway.” It said the response followed American bombings of civilian areas along Iran’s southern coasts, including what it described as a “criminal” attack on a wedding ceremony in Hormozgan province.
Ahmad Nafisi, Hormozgan’s deputy governor for political and security affairs, told Fars News that five people, including a four‑year‑old child and a woman, were killed in the strike on Sirik county, with more than 50 others injured.
The Jordanian Armed Forces later confirmed that air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 10 of 13 ballistic missiles fired from Iran, while three others landed in remote areas without casualties.
Explosions were reported across several southern provinces, including Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, Jask, Konarak, Chabahar, Jiroft and Asaluyeh, as US Central Command announced strikes against IRGC targets.
Iran’s Khatam al‑Anbiya Central Headquarters vowed “crushing and shattering” blows against the United States in response to what it called “air aggression.”
The escalating confrontation highlights the growing risk of wider conflict in the region, with both sides trading deadly strikes and warnings.
